From the editor:From the crusaders to modern antique hunters, people have been driven to extreme lengths to possess the implements of, or connections to Magick.

The practice of Sympathetic Magick is all around us. It includes ancient and contemporary Christianity's use of relics (usually human remains of Saints) embedded in Cathedrals, VooDoo Dolls that include the possessions of the intended, the human relics that adorn the infamous "Crypt" of Skull & Bones, the documents of Masonic Lodges, artifacts of the Thule Cults of Germany, Graveyard Dirt of a HooDoo Witch, the stones Aleister Crowley's home or those of the "Hunting Lodge" known as the Hell Fire Club. The examples are everywhere.

Resources are constantly expended in the name of archeology. The scholarly work is not called the search for Occult Artifacts because it would be unsuitable for the young minds of students that will do much of the searching. But infact, much of archeology is specifically searching for items of the Occult.

*Sympathetic Magick is based upon two principles: first, "like produces like" and that significant items, once having been in contact with Mystical Practices maintain a connection or memory, even after the item has been taken away from it's owner or place. This is the reason that; when performing an invocation, spell, or act of divination the practitioner will possess an item of importance of that person, place or thing, for which the spell is being cast. It is this tangible empowerment that completes the needed elements of Magick.
